Pete's Western

Have anyone of you heard about Pete's Western? But think it's not a unfamiliar name to some readers as previously it had opened at another premise somewhere near 4th miles, if not mistaken, but now has moved to a new premise. The current new premise is located at a corner unit of a single block shophouse within a housing estate (i.e. Everbright Garden) area not far from the bustling Premier 101.

Hoi Tin Lau

*** Warning: A non-halal post ***

This restaurant used to be located at the unit just beside the ground floor of Hotel Grand Continental, Kuching main lobby entrance. But we never had the chance to tried it out although back then we already have heard good comments about it.

Until recently after the restaurant moved to a new premise, which is located somewhere behind the shoplots at the traffic light juntion of Jalan Simpang Tiga (before the Spring) and Jalan Mendu. It is not visible from the main road as you have to turn towards the back shoplots which you will discover almost half of the shop block is occupied by this restaurant.

Can you guess which restaurant that we are going to blog about in this blog? For those who have ever frequented the restaurant before, it is none other than Hoi Tin Lau Restaurant.

From the outside look of the restaurant, one maybe wondering if two persons can go in to order dishes or not as the table layouts are mainly for big group of people or for those organizing some big events such as wedding reception, birthday dinner, etc. Stick on the glass panel and notice boards are also articles and photos about the chef and the restaurant. There are a few famous dishes being mentioned but what captured Salt's attention is the roasted suckling pig.

But fear not as they do cater for couple. Most of the dishes can be ordered in three different portions namely small, medium and big. So far, we have been there twice. Below are some of the dishes that we had tried.

Steamed Peanuts
The steamed peanuts above are served prior to the main course of dishes but it is not free of charge.

Chef Specialty Taufu
Venison Meat With Ginger
Stir Fried Kailan with Chicken Floss
Roasted Suckling Pig

Honey Dew Sago

They have a setup a dedicated website with the following link http://www.hoitinlau.com/.
Happy browsing.

Kwong Chin Seafood

Kwong Chin Seafood, one of our favourites places to go when we want to have chinese-styled stir-fry foods. Although the shop's name sounds like one that is famous for seafood dishes but most of the times we came here, seafood was not one of the compulsory dishes.

Below are some of the dishes we have ordered before.

Yam Fried Chicken
Two-Flavoured Roast Duck
Crab With Eggs
Chef Specialty Beancurd With Minced Meats and Salted Fish
Mixed Vegetables With Cashew Nuts

Bidin
The place is always packed with people especially on weekends and special occassion such as Father's Day and Mother's Day.

Address:
Jalan Datuk Amar Kalong Ningkan
Kuching, Sarawak 93250.

It's somewhere located at 3 1/2 Miles after The Banquet Restaurant on the side of the road coming down from Serian.
