My Restaurant

*** Warning: A non-halal post ***

Looking for a western restaurant specializing in pork? Seek no further other than My Restaurant. Don't get me wrong here, it's not my restaurant, but a restaurant owned by someone else and the restaurant is named My Restaurant.

The restaurant is owned by Angela and Walter. If you do not know Walter, he was the previous chef at Carvary (a buffet eating restaurant in Kuching) and he is an Austrian. However, we personally do not know them.

Apart from serving pork specialty dishes, the restaurant do have other western dishes such as chicken chop and lamb chop but we have yet to try them out.

Papi & Nanny Cafe

Normally we just drive past this cafe and will notice quite a number people having lunch there. One afternoon during the weekend, we decided it's our turn to drop-by and have our lunch there. The shop that we mentioned is Papi & Nanny Cafe. By the time we were there, the shop was still quite empty, maybe due to that it was still early. Subsequently after we placed our order and once we started to eat after our foods were served, customers began to continuously flocked into the shop. How lucky we were one step ahead of the crowd.

Our lunch for that day.

Curry Chicken Rice

Tomato Fried Kueh Tiaw

The cafe is located on the same block with Bella Italia, in fact just beside it, at RH Plaza.

Lorong Lapangan Terbang 1, Kuching, Sarawak 93350

Sweet Happiness Restaurant

Not sure if anyone of you ever heard or been to this restaurant before. It is located at Stutong but the restaurant is not easily noticeable from the main road. One may have to circle the roads around the shophouses then maybe able to spot it. I may think that this restaurant is famous for its seafoods dishes due to that the outside of the restaurant you can notice a few aquariums with fresh seafoods such as fishes and crabs.

During that weekend which we went, our second visit there, the place was quite packed with people and a lot of cars were parked at the parking lots. Originally we wanted to turn away due to the crowd but since we were having late dinner and hungry already, we just gave it a try to find a table inside the restaurant. Luck was on our side as we managed to found one. We quickly looked at the menu on what to order and ordered three (3) dishes.

Thinking that due to the big crowd our dishes may have to wait quite long but luckily it was not. Not long after, the dishes we ordered were served. Good for that night since we were hungry. Below are some photos of what we ordered.

Mani Cai with Egg
Chef Specialty Beancurd
Venison Meat

After the dinner, out of our expectation, they served us dessert as well. I am not sure this is a permanent feature or not or was just special on that particular night. Anyhow, we just ate it and it was quite nice. The dessert was 'santan' (coconut milk) pudding.

Pudding
Our first visit there was with Pepper's family members and relatives. We did not call the shot of what dishes to order but just waiting to eat. Some of the dishes being ordered.

Chef Specialty Beancurd with Spinach

Crab with Salted Egg
Curry Fish
Beans with Minced Meat

The restaurant that we blogged here is Sweet Happiness Restaurant.

Pete's Western

Have anyone of you heard about Pete's Western? But think it's not a unfamiliar name to some readers as previously it had opened at another premise somewhere near 4th miles, if not mistaken, but now has moved to a new premise. The current new premise is located at a corner unit of a single block shophouse within a housing estate (i.e. Everbright Garden) area not far from the bustling Premier 101.

So far, Salt n Pepper has visited the shop a few times and is of the opinion that the foods serve here are not bad. The below photos show some of the foods that we have tried before.

Mushroom Soup
Lamb Chop with Mint Sauce
Spaghetti with Cheese

Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce

Fish n Chips
The shop opens daily from 10am till 2am.. Yes, 2am. You didn't read it wrongly neither do I typed wrongly. So one can go not only for lunch or dinner but also for late night supper or super early morning breakfast:P

Hoi Tin Lau

*** Warning: A non-halal post ***

This restaurant used to be located at the unit just beside the ground floor of Hotel Grand Continental, Kuching main lobby entrance. But we never had the chance to tried it out although back then we already have heard good comments about it.

Until recently after the restaurant moved to a new premise, which is located somewhere behind the shoplots at the traffic light juntion of Jalan Simpang Tiga (before the Spring) and Jalan Mendu. It is not visible from the main road as you have to turn towards the back shoplots which you will discover almost half of the shop block is occupied by this restaurant.

Can you guess which restaurant that we are going to blog about in this blog? For those who have ever frequented the restaurant before, it is none other than Hoi Tin Lau Restaurant.

From the outside look of the restaurant, one maybe wondering if two persons can go in to order dishes or not as the table layouts are mainly for big group of people or for those organizing some big events such as wedding reception, birthday dinner, etc. Stick on the glass panel and notice boards are also articles and photos about the chef and the restaurant. There are a few famous dishes being mentioned but what captured Salt's attention is the roasted suckling pig.

But fear not as they do cater for couple. Most of the dishes can be ordered in three different portions namely small, medium and big. So far, we have been there twice. Below are some of the dishes that we had tried.

Steamed Peanuts
The steamed peanuts above are served prior to the main course of dishes but it is not free of charge.

Chef Specialty Taufu
Venison Meat With Ginger
Stir Fried Kailan with Chicken Floss
Roasted Suckling Pig

Honey Dew Sago

They have a setup a dedicated website with the following link http://www.hoitinlau.com/.
Happy browsing.
